What is the Work?Study Training Program?
The Work?Study Training Program aims to provide a means to develop an effective industry-oriented workforce by allowing the trainees to be employed by corporations and undergo systemic training at the workplace. After the training period is completed, the trainee’s proficiency is assessed through a national (or corporate) evaluation and is recognized as a national qualification.

The Role of KOPO

KOPO plays a leading role in the Work-Study Training Program in partnership with corporate and other related government agencies to bring out the core values of the program?“diversity,” “flexibility,” and “industry-oriented.”
Development of the Work?Study Training Program
As the supervising body of the Training Program development, KOPO is responsible for developing the program based on the demands expressed by corporate partners as well as the NCS.
Work?Study Training Administration and Support
KOPO, as a designated Dual Joint Training Center, is responsbile for administering Off-JT programs to the trainees and supporting the OJT programs in the corporate workspace.
P-TECH
KOPO supports the development and administration of training programs in Apprentice Schools, the high school-level program of the Work?Study Training Program. Also, it supervises the Polytech Pathway program, which offers mid- and upper-level degree programs to the Apprentice School graduates.

Development and Management of a Work-Study Training Program Expert Committee Pool
- KOPO develops and supervises the expert committee pool for the Work?Study Training Program through an open recruitment of external professionals in order to improve the quality of the program and the professional capabilities of the management group.
- 1,200 professionals selected as expert committee members, including industrial engineering professors, master craftsmen, and NCS professionals

KOPO, as a designated Dual Joint Training Center, administers Off-JT programs and supports OJT programs for SMB partners that may face difficulty in providing adequate training environment on its own.
32 Joint Training Centers currently in operation (nearly 40% of the 93 designated centers in the nation)
Consulting Services for Program Development and Administration
- Program update: updating and modifying existing development programs in accordance with NCS
- Training support and management: offering support in training administration, learning materials development, operation, and evaluation

Integrated Industry-Academics Apprentice School - KOPO Collaborative Program, Work?Study Training Program (P-TECH: Pathways in Technology Early College High School)

Management of the Polytech Pathway (P-TECH) program, in which high school-level Work?Study Trainees are given the chance to acquire working experience in the field before engaging in mid- and upper-level degree programs

Method
Graduates of the high school-level Work-Study Training Program (two years) may be granted support for the college-level Work-Study Training Programs in nearby KOPO campuses (approximately 1 year and 6 months) after acquiring work experience in the field.
